On this episode of the Mental Health Hour Podcast, we sit down with Ethan Down, a young man who has faced more than his share of challenges early in life. Ethan shares an open and powerful story about how quickly life's pressures and struggles can sneak up on us—and how, before we realize it, they can begin to take hold. He talks candidly about his journey of sobriety, the lessons he has learned along the way, and why he has developed such a strong passion for mental health awareness and helping others know they are not alone. We are truly humbled to have Ethan join us and grateful for his willingness to be vulnerable and share his story. His journey is a reminder that our struggles don't have to define our future and that there is always room for hope, healing, and a new chapter.
At Building A Refuge, we believe in meeting men exactly where they are, creating space for real conversations, and sharing one story at a time to create HOPE.
You Are Not Alone.
If Ethan's story speaks to you, please LIKE, SHARE & SUBSCRIBE to help us continue spreading awareness around men's mental health, addiction, sobriety, and suicide prevention.

We recently had the honor of welcoming a very special guest to the Building a Refuge Podcast — my stepfather, KD DelFabro. KD has been a constant in my life for over 40 years. He’s a successful Indianapolis business leader, a trusted advisor to countless clients, a former executive board member, an incredible grandfather to our kids, and a devoted husband to my mom. But beyond the titles, KD’s life is a powerful testament to resilience and faith.
He has endured some of life’s deepest losses — including the tragic loss of his daughter and my brother to suicide. He survived a heart attack that nearly took his life and has courageously battled cancer over the past two years. Through it all, KD has remained grounded in his faith in Jesus Christ and committed to living life fully, with purpose and gratitude.
This conversation is raw, honest, and deeply hopeful. KD opens up about grief, perseverance, faith, and what it means to keep moving forward when life knocks you down. Hence the title to KD's story "Avanti Sempre" Alway keep moving forward !
🎧 I hope you’ll take a moment to listen — and if this episode resonates with you, please share it with someone who may need encouragement today. Real stories. Real faith. Real hope.
